P2Daily: Previewing This Week’s Pirates Minor League Opponents

Published:

[The Producer]

We’re trying a new feature this week on P2Daily. Many of you in the comments have seen the previews that Jeff Reed, aka Bucs’N’Pucks, posts with information on the other team. I felt this would be good information to turn into a regular feature. Going forward, P2Daily will serve as a primer on Tuesday for the upcoming full-season minor league opponents against the Pirates’ system, expanding on this format.

Here is a look at who the Pirates take on at each level this week.

*****

This week the Pirates farm system goes up against a mixture of rising and falling prospects.

Familiar 2021 1st round pick Kahlil Watson headlines the Jupiter Hammerheads roster. His first full season hasn’t gone very well, leading to him falling off Baseball America’s recent top 100 list.

Brooklyn Cyclones Outfielder Alex Ramirez and Richmond Flying Squirrels pitcher Kyle Harrison are two prospects that have seen their stock rise over the course of the 2022 season. Ramirez has been showing up on the backend of updated lists, and Kyle Harrison is floating around the top 25 on updates. Harrison is just a month shy of having his first legal beverage.

A week after facing a top 100 prospect loaded Cleveland Guardians roster in Double-A, the Indianapolis Indians take their turn facing a loaded Guardians team. These last two weeks have given me farm system envy, seeing how strong the Guardians upper levels are.
