The Arizona Fall League wraps up this week, and the Scottsdale Scorpions have a razor thin chance of making the post-season. Scottsdale is 14-14 on the season, with an elimination number of one, and two games remaining. Scottsdale needs to win all of their games, along with a few other teams losing, in order to reach this weekend’s playoffs.
They got some help on Tuesday from two Pirates prospects in an 11-2 victory.
Sammy Siani started in right field, going 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. He walked in the fourth inning, and scored the third run of the game on a double in the next at-bat. Siani added his hit in the sixth inning, lining a two-out RBI single to make the score 9-2.
Brandan Bidois pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Bidois entered in the top of the seventh, after Siani plated the ninth run. He had a rough start to the inning, allowing two singles after a leadoff strikeout. Bidois rebounded with a strikeout swinging and a ground out to third to end the frame.
Scottsdale plays their next game against Peoria at 3:30 PM EST on Wednesday. Peoria has the worst record in the league, which should help the playoff chances.
