Prospect Watch: Quinn Priester, Anthony Solometo, Sweeney and Thibo Combine on Bradenton No-Hitter

Published:

All seven affiliates are on the schedule today. We only have two starting pitchers available, with Bryse Wilson getting the start for Indianapolis and Jared Jones making the start for Greensboro. Bradenton doesn’t have a starter listed, which is interesting to note because of who was in their dugout on Tuesday night. No inside info, just pointing it out.

UPDATE: Henry Davis and Quinn Priester have joined Bradenton.

P2Daily: It’s Bradenton Marauders Week on Pirates Prospects

Game Time: 6:30 PM

Box Score: LINK

Starting Pitcher: Quinn Priester (NR)

  • Final Line:  3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO

Sergio Campana 0-for-3

Game Recap:

Bradenton had some name power in the lineup and on the mound today, as Quinn Priester and Henry Davis made the starting battery, followed by Anthony Solometo on the mound. They didn’t disappoint, as the Marauders threw a no-hitter, getting work from four pitchers total. Priester got some great plays behind, one from Mike Jarvis on the first ball hit, then a diving catcher from Sergio Campana. Priester allowed just one runner on a hit batter. He threw 37 pitches, with 20 going for strikes. He was sitting 94-95 early, 92-93 by the third, so he still has some stretching out to do. Solometo was hitting 93 MPH early, showing a tick better velocity than his debut. He gave up two runners in his four no-hit innings, both on walks. Jake Sweeney and Yunior Thibo each tossed a scoreless frame, and a game that started by a great play from Mike Jarvis, ended on a great play by Mike Jarvis. In the era of big strikeout numbers, somehow Bradenton pitchers combined for just five strikeouts tonight.

Bradenton won 3-0, scoring all three runs in the fifth inning. Norkis Marcos tripled in two runs, then he scored on a balk. Henry Davis caught the entire game, collected a double, walk and his 13th HBP in 26 games. In addition to his two big plays, Mike Jarvis had two of Bradenton’s five hits.
