About a month ago, I sat down and mapped out the Tuesday article drop schedule for the rest of the season.
That sounds like a lot. However, between the draft, trade deadline, having six levels to cover in the farm system, and wanting to spend two weeks per season on each team, there weren’t many weeks without content.
My focus was to take an initial pass through the system in May, dissecting what is happening at each level, with features on who I feel are the top position player and pitching prospects. Part two of this will come in August, when I take a lot at how everything has progressed this year, with an emphasis on the how.
That season progression starts to get more important in the A-ball levels and below.
This week, we’re covering the Greensboro Grasshoppers. This is a team that just promoted Henry Davis and Matt Gorski, but still has two of the top ten prospects in the system remaining. The Pirates also have some players who are very young for the level. It’s difficult to evaluate those players with accuracy this early in the process.
The articles this week took a look at the hitting from Endy Rodriguez, the familiar path of Jared Jones, what was working for Matt Gorski, and a few other features. We’ll have more Greensboro coverage as the week goes on. For now, check out the links below.

so who goes down now, if mitchell is coming up. suwinski? diego?
I’d guess Suwinski, which would be mildly disappointing.
Best case is Yoshi goes. Gamel supposedly has been working out at first.
suwinski would be disappointing indeed. would just be a swap of prospects…doesn’t make much sense to me.
Yep
Yoshi isn’t going anywhere! Especially after crushing that game winning hit last night. The exit velo on that ball had to be north of 20 mph.
Maybe Van Meter goes on IL? He looked to be in pain after making the diving stop of a ground ball last night.
hmmm could be! they certainly have options. lol
Time to clear out the deadenders. Along with Martin, the guy they really should be looking at is Bae. He’s killing it in May. Among other things, 14/6 BB/K, which is crazy.
yeah it would be nice to see bae called up. but it would also be nice to see them play the middle infielder prospects consistently first.
but if you call up bae does he play at 2nd? outfield?
2B. Ideally, Suwinski, Mitchell, Reynolds in OF and Gamel at 1B. Bring Martin up and there’d just have to be a LF/RF/1B rotation. Same at 2B/SS.
that sounds pretty good to me! makes too much sense to happen
looks like cal mitchell is being called up!!!
very exciting to finally see him in person (on tv lol). one of my favorite prospects in the system
Looks like I gotta wear the jersey tonight
So help me, if the Pirates call up Roansy and option Yerry, I’m going to Cherington’s office and pulling an Amber Heard. 💩
Are you telling me Amber Heard deficated near BC’s office?
Great topics, hooray for Tuesday, thanks Tim and all P2 staff👏👏
