P2Daily: Happy Minor League Opening Day!

Happy Minor League Opening Day!

The MLB Opener yesterday was a roller coaster ride. A record extension for Ke’Bryan Hayes, followed by Hayes leaving in the first inning of the first game. Fortunately, he seems to be okay.

I love the extension for Hayes, and I’ll have more thoughts on that when more details are known. I’d like to see the Pirates take a similar approach with Mitch Keller. That’s coming from the perspective of someone who believes we’re about to see a breakout season from the former Pirates top prospect.

Today is Opening Day for three of the four Pirates full-season minor league teams. The Altoona Curve, Greensboro Grasshoppers, and Bradenton Marauders will all begin their seasons tonight, while Indianapolis will resume their head start. We’ll have all of the game coverage in the Prospect Watch.

We’ve had season previews for Indianapolis, Altoona, and Greensboro so far. We also had a fun article where each writer wrote about a player who could be in line for a breakout this year.

Today we will finish the minor league previews with our look at the Bradenton Marauders, along with our top ten prospects at each level. I hope you join along in following the first full day of minor league action of the year.
