CF Starling Marte went 3-for-4 and DH Jordan Newton had 2 hits in the Marauders’ win.� He singled in the 1st and 3rd innings, but was left on base both times.� Marte was not involved in the 4th inning rally that gave the Marauders 3 runs.� C Eric Fryer walked and was forced out at second base on 3B Adam Davis’ ground out.� A walk by 2B James Skelton and a single by DH Jordan Newton brought in Davis, then SS Shelby Ford’s single plated Skelton and Newton, giving the Marauders a 3-0 lead.
Jose Ascanio made his first appearance since right shoulder surgery.� He pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit in each inning, but striking out 4 batters.� Tim Alderson took over for Ascanio in the 3rd.� After two scoreless innings, the Manatees caught up, one run at a time.� A triple and a single brought in one run in the 5th.� A solo homer added a second run in the 6th.� A hit batter, a wild pitch, and an RBI single tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the 7th.
The Marauders took the lead again in the bottom of the 7th.� Marte singled for the third time in the game, and stole second base.� He scored on LF Quincy Latimore’s RBI single.�� They added 2 more runs in the 8th, on a 2-out rally.� Newton singled and went to second on a wild pitch.� Ford walked, then both Newton and Ford scored on RF Robbie Grossman’s double, though Grossman was out at third trying to stretch the double into a triple.
Alderson earned his first win with the Marauders.� Diego Moreno and Noah Krol each pitched one scoreless and hitless inning.� Krol walked a batter but got an inning-ending double play, and he earned his league-leading 26th save.

West Virginia Power� 4,� Delmarva Shorebirds� 3�� (Game 1) (box)
This was supposed to be a 7-inning game, but after 7 the game was tied at 3-3.� Back-to-back homers by C Ramon Cabrera and 1B Kyle Morgan gave the Power 3 runs in the 2nd inning.� LF Jose Hernandez had doubled before Cabrera’s homer.
Starter Phillip Irwin gave up only a walk and a single over the first 3 innings.� He allowed 2 runs in the 4th on three singles and a fielding error.� After a scoreless 5th, Irwin gave up a solo home run in the top of the 6th to tie the score.� He allowed a total of 5 hits and a walk, with 6 strikeouts in 6 innings.
Hernandez had 3 hits in the game.� He singled to lead off the 4th, but was erased in a double play, and singled with one out in the 6th, and again was erased in a double play.� The Power threatened in the 4th, when Morgan tripled and 3B Elevys Gonzalez walked to put runners on the corners with 2 outs, but a ground out ended the inning.� They put two runners on in the 8th when CF Evan Chambers and DH Aaron Baker both walked, but both were left on base.
Gabriel Alvarado relieved Irwin to begin the 7th inning.� He allowed only a single in the 8th, but picked that runner off first, and hit a batter in the top of the 9th.
In the bottom of the 9th with one out, Kyle Morgan worked a walk, then stole second base.� SS Benji Gonzalez was the hero with an RBI walk-off single that brought Morgan around to score from second base with the winning run.

Power� 5,� Shorebirds� 1 �� ( Game 2) (box)
RF Jose Hernandez made it a 5-for-7 day with 2 more hits in the night-cap.� He singled in the 2nd and doubled in the 3rd, but did not score either time.� The Power put at least one runner on base in each of the first four innings, but didn’t score until the 5th inning, when 3B Elevys Gonzalez walked and CF Evan Chambers tripled, scoring Gonzalez.
Brett Lorin pitched 5 scoreless innings, scattering 4 hits and a walk, with 2 strikeouts.� Marc Baca took over to start the 6th, and gave up a tying run on two singles and a sacrifice fly.� The Power responded in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.� With one out, DH Kyle Morgan walked and scored on LF Rogelios Noris’ double.� Noris scored on C Jairo Marquez’s single, and Marquez scored when Gonzalez tripled.� A wild pitch brought in Gonzalez with the 4th run of the inning.� Lorin retired the Shorebirds in order in the top of the 7th, and the Power had taken both ends of the double-header.

State College Spikes� 3,� Staten Island Yankees� 2 (box)
The Spikes walked off with the win in the bottom of the 9th thanks to an error by the Yankees.� LF Pat Irvine led off the inning with a single to second base.� 2B Walker Gourley beat out a bunt for another single, moving Irvine to second base.� Then DH Gerlis Rodriguez also bunted, but the Staten Island catcher made a throwing error on the play, and that allowed Irvine to score the winning run.
The Spikes scored first, when CF Mel Rojas doubled to begin the bottom of the 1st.� SS Gift Ngoepe bunted Rojas to third, and RF Adalberto Santos’ ground out brought Rojas in to score.� 1B Matt Curry also singled and stole second base in the inning.� The Spikes added a second run in the 5th, which also began with a double, this one by 3B Kelson Brown. Rojas followed the double with an RBI single that brought in Brown.
Starter Zack Von Rosenberg pitched 6 innings and allowed only 2 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.� He allowed only one base runner over his first 4 innings — a walk in the 3rd, and that base runner was thrown out trying to steal second base.� The two singles came in the 5th, but both runners were left stranded.� Von Rosenberg walked a batter in the 6th, but erased him with a double play.
Staten Island tied the score in the 7th, with 2 unearned runs off reliever Casey Sadler. Three consecutive singles, plus a throwing error by Curry and a fielding error by Gourley brought in the runs.� Sadler kept the Yankees from scoring in the 7th.� Jhonatan Ramos pitched a scoreless 9th, and he was the pitcher of record when the Spikes scored in the bottom of the inning, so he was the winning pitcher.

GCL Pirates and GCL Blue Jays ….. suspended
Rain halted this scoreless tie in the middle of the 6th inning.� The Pirates had recorded 2 hits — a double by Exicardo Cayonez to lead off the 2nd inning, and a single by Eric Avila to lead off the 5th.� Avila was hit by a pitch after the double in the 2nd, but he was erased in a double play, and Cayonez was left stranded on third base at the end of the inning.� In the 5th, Avila stole second base, but was caught in a run-down when SS Kevin Mort grounded to third.� Rehabbing DH Jeremy Farrell was 0-for-3.
Vincent Payne pitched 4.1 scoreless innings in his start for the Pirates.� He loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the 2nd, but started a 1-2-3 double play to get himself out of the jam.� Payne gave up a triple in the 4th but left him on base, and then gave up a double to begin the 5th.� Dinesh Patel relieved Payne with one out and the runner on second base.� Patel gave up another double, but the first base runner had to hold up to see if the ball was going to be caught, and so he only reached third base.� A short fly out and a ground out ended the inning without a run scoring.
