Pirates Discussion: Two Games Against the Yankees Before a Long Road Trip

Published:

The Pirates begin a short, two-game series against the Yankees, before heading on to a very long road trip.

They travel to Cincinnati on Thursday for a doubleheader. That is followed by three games in Milwaukee, four games in Miami, and three games in Colorado — without a single day off until the All-Star break. I guess the schedule makers decided the Pirates should suffer leading up to the break.

Jose Quintana (1-4, 3.43) will kick it off against former Bucco, Jameson Taillon (9-1, 3.32).

I imagine there will be a tribute video, as there should be, unlike some of the recently departed players they created a montage for.

YANKEES @ PIRATES

Time: 7:05 PM EST

Pirates Starter: Jose Quintana, (1-4, 3.43)

Yankees Starter: Jameson Taillon, (9-1, 3.32)

Quintana notes: Quintana closed out June with an 0-2 record, and 4.80 ERA. He gave up 5 home runs in the month, all in two games to Atlanta and San Francisco. In his final two starts, he threw 12 innings, allowing only three earned runs, with three walks and 12 strikeouts against the Cubs and Nationals.
