Pirates Add Banuelos and De Los Santos to Roster; Brice Designated for Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates added pitcher Manny Banuelos to the active roster prior to Wednesday’s game against his old teammates. He was purchased by the Pirates on Sunday. They also activated pitcher Yerry De Los Santos from the COVID-19 IL. To make room on the 26-man roster, pitcher Cam Vieaux was optioned to Indianapolis, and pitcher Austin Brice was designated for assignment.

Banuelos has a 2.16 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 8.1 innings this season.

De Los Santos has a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings over 13 appearances, with an 0.95 WHIP and 13 strikeouts.

Brice pitched two games for the Pirates and allowed two runs over 3.2 innings.

Vieaux made five appearances, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on a 3.00 WHIP in five innings.
