P2Daily: Who’s Left? Roster Status of Remaining Players in Pirates’ Camp

Published:

At this point, nearly all of the Pirates’ prospects are in minor league camp, so these are mostly guys who have real shots at making the team.  I’m just going to list the roster status of each, most importantly options, of the guys who aren’t very clear locks.  Remember that Blake Cederlind and Nick Mears are on the 60-dayday IL.  For non-roster players, the number of options listed, obviously, is in the event they’re added to the roster.

The clear locks (11):  David Bednar, Heath Hembree, Mitch Keller, Jose Quintana, Chris Stratton, Roberto Perez, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Yoshi Tsutsugo, Dan Vogelbach, Ben Gamel, Bryan Reynolds.

The rest:

Pitchers

Anthony Banda — no options
J.T. Brubaker — 2 options
Wil Crowe — 1 option
Aaron Fletcher — 2 options
Sam Howard — 2 options
Max Kranick — 2 options
Adonis Medina — 1 option
Luis Oviedo — 3 options
Dillon Peters — no options
Zach Thompson — 3 options
Duane Underwood, Jr. — no options
Bryce Wilson — 1 option
Miguel Yajure — 1 option
Cam Alldred — non-roster, 3 options
Austin Brice — non-roster, no options
Chase De Jong — non-roster, no options
Jerad Eickhoff — non-roster, no options
Eric Hanhold* — non-roster,  2 options
Beau Sulser — non-roster, 3 options

*I’m not clear whether Eric Hanhold is in major or minor league camp.  He was outrighted to AAA, but that doesn’t say anything about where he is right now.  He’s never been listed as reassigned, so I’m assuming he’s still in major league camp.

Taylor Davis — non-roster, 2 options
Michael Perez — non-roster, 2 options
Jamie Ritchie — non-roster, 3 options

Infielders

Diego Castillo — 3 options
Michael Chavis — 1 option

Hoy Park — 3 options
Cole Tucker — 1 option
Hunter Owen — non-roster, 3 options

Song of the Day

Wilbur Miller
Wilbur Miller
Having followed the Pirates fanatically since 1965, Wilbur Miller is one of the fast-dwindling number of fans who’ve actually seen good Pirate teams. He’s even seen Hall-of-Fame Pirates who didn’t get traded mid-career, if you can imagine such a thing. His first in-person game was a 5-4, 11-inning win at Forbes Field over Milwaukee (no, not that one). He’s been writing about the Pirates at various locations online for over 20 years. It has its frustrations, but it’s certainly more cathartic than writing legal stuff. Wilbur is retired and now lives in Bradenton with his wife and three temperamental cats.
