AAA: INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS

Box Score

Result: Louisville 3, Indianapolis 0

Starting Pitcher: Jameson Taillon, RHP (1-3, 3.89) – 6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 0 HR

Top Hitter: Ivan De Jesus, 2B (.317) – 1-for-3

Game Notes: Jameson Taillon made his final regular season start, finishing with a 3.89 ERA in 37 innings for Indianapolis, with a 37:16 K/BB ratio. He had some control problems at the level, but did well in his last two starts, with three walks in 13 innings. He did give up six earned runs in 13 innings over that stretch. On the season Taillon threw 141.1 innings, which is just shy of his 142 innings last year. He should get at least one playoff start, depending on how far Indianapolis advances.

AA: ALTOONA CURVE

Box Score

Result: Altoona 8, Akron 3

Starting Pitcher: Nate Baker, LHP (4-4, 6.05) – 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 0 HR

Top Hitter: Alex Dickerson, RF (.291) – 4-for-4, HR, 3 RBI

Justin Howard, 1B (.320) – 2-for-5, 2 2B

Andy Vasquez, LF (.252) – 2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI

Game Notes: Alex Dickerson was named Altoona’s MVP and the Eastern League rookie of the year today. He responded with a huge game, going 4-for-4 with his 17th homer of the year. In his last ten games he has a .355/.462/.613 line in 31 at-bats, with two homers. That comes after struggling for much of August. On the season Dickerson has a .291/.339/.499 line in 447 at-bats. Check out Jake Oswalt’s live game report. Justin Howard had two doubles, giving him 15 on the season in 278 at-bats. Nate Baker has struggled this year in the rotation, but did well today, giving up two runs in six innings of work. The best part was the lack of walks, as control has been Baker’s biggest issue so far.

A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS

Box Score

Result: Fort Myers 3, Bradenton 2

Starting Pitcher: Joan Montero, RHP (3.03) – 5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 HR

Top Hitter: Dan Gamache, 2B (.258) – 1-for-4, HR

Other Notable Performers:

Junior Sosa, CF (.247) – 2-for-4, 2B

Stetson Allie, DH (.229) – 1-for-4, 2B

James McDonald, RHP (9.00) – 2.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 HR

Game Notes: James McDonald came on in relief tonight, which is the first time in his rehab assignment that he’s worked out of the bullpen. He gave up two runs in his second inning of work, including a solo homer. Dan Gamache hit his fifth homer of the year. Joan Montero has an interesting trend going on. In three starts he has a 0.60 ERA, but more importantly has just two walks in 15 innings. As a reliever he has a 3.71 ERA in 53.1 innings, but horrible control with 32 walks.

A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER

Game Two Box Score

Result: West Virginia 1, Lexington 0

Starting Pitcher: Clario Perez, RHP (4.19) – 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 HR

Top Hitter: Raul Fortunato, CF (.248) – 1-for-3, 2 SB

Other Notable Performers:

Ryan Hafner, RHP (3.00) – 2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 0 HR

Game Notes: West Virginia got a great group effort from their relievers to combine for a seven inning shutout. Of the three relievers, Ryan Hafner is the top prospect. He has a 3.00 ERA in 87 innings his year, with a 102:40 K/BB ratio.

A-: JAMESTOWN JAMMERS

Box Score

Result: Williamsport 3, Jamestown 2

Starting Pitcher: Buddy Borden, RHP (1.08) – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR

Top Hitter: Austin Meadows, CF (.444) – 3-for-5

Other Notable Performers:

Reese McGuire, C (.250) – 1-for-4

Candon Myles, LF (.250) – 2-for-4, SB

Elvis Escobar, DH (.274) – 1-for-5, SB, 3 K

Game Notes: Yesterday Austin Meadows hit a home run in his first game with Jamestown. Today he picked up three hits. Reese McGuire played his first game with Jamestown and picked up his first hit. It’s a safe bet that both players will start out with West Virginia next year. Jamestown’s regular season goes until Wednesday, and their magic number to clinch the Wild Card is at 3.  Meadows and McGuire should help them get that final push to the playoffs. 2013 7th round pick Buddy Borden has given up two earned runs in 16.2 innings so far, with a 23:5 K/BB ratio.
