Yesterday’s Result: Harrisburg 12, Altoona 5

Eliecer Navarro will get his 14th start for Altoona tonight. Before his promotion, he went 1-9, 2.86 in 11 starts and two relief appearances for Bradenton. With Altoona, he has thrown 69 innings, allowing 64 hits, eight homers and 32 walks. Navarro has 50 strikeouts, an 0.61 GO/AO ratio and a .239 BAA. In his last start, he went 3.1 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and five walks. He faced Harrisburg on August 11th, allowing two earned runs over six innings.

High-A: Bradenton (54-73 overall, 28-31 2nd half) @ Jupiter (66-66) 6:35pm
Probable starter: Joely Rodriguez (4-3, 2.83)
Yesterday’s Result: Jupiter 4, Bradenton 1 (game one) Bradenton 4, Jupiter 1 (game two)

Joely Rodriguez will get his 12th start for Bradenton tonight. Prior to joining Bradenton, he went 5-5, 2.72 in 14 starts for West Virginia. Probable starter: Jason Creasy (4-4, 2.80)
Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia was off yesterday

Jason Creasy will make his 13th start. He has also pitched in relief 18 times. As a starter, he is 2-4, 2.45 in 58.2 innings. On the season, he has thrown a total of 96.1 innings, allowing 96 hits, seven homers and 23 walks. Creasy has 89 strikeouts, a 1.26 GO/AO ratio and a .253 BAA. In his last start, he went five innings, giving up two unearned runs on four hits and no walks. He faced Asheville on July 12th, giving up two unearned runs over six innings.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (39-25) vs Mahoning Valley (25-39) 5:00pm DH
Probable Starter: Isaac Sanchez (1-1, 3.60) and Buddy Borden (0-0, 1.17)
Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown was rained out

Isaac Sanchez will get the start tonight for Jamestown. In 12 games(11 starts), he has pitched 50 innings, allowing 45 hits, four homers and 20 walks. Sanchez pitched three shutout innings out of the bullpen on Thursday. Buddy Borden will start game two, his second start. In his first game, he threw three no-hit innings. He has pitched three times in relief, giving up one run on four hits, two walks and nine strikeouts in 4.2 innings

Rookie:  GCL Pirates (31-26) vs GCL Blue Jays (27-30) 12:00pm
Probable Starter: Wei-Chung Wang (0-3, 3.53)
Yesterday’s Result: Pirates 7, Blue Jays 6

James McDonald will make a rehab start today, his third for the GCL Pirates. He gave up two runs without getting out of the first inning in his first game, then threw two no-hit innings three days later. Wei-Chung Wang could follow McDonald. He has pitched 43.1 innings, allowing 35 hits, two homers and three walks. Wang has 36 strikeouts, a 1.29 GO/AO ratio and a .213 BAA. In his last start, he went four innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks. Wang has made all of his starts on the road this season, including the one that is listed as a home start, which was actually a make up game played on the road in which the Pirates batted in the bottom of the inning. Since today’s game is a home game, there is a chance the Pirates could push Wang back a day and go with Neil Kozikowski, who has made five of his six appearances at home. If there is a change, we will update this post in the morning.

When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long.
