Game Notes: One issue with Andrew Lambo’s game was his lack of walks recently. He had six in the entire month of July, leading to a low .304 OBP. I don’t know if the team told him to focus on that aspect of his game, but he has drawn a walk five days in a row now. He is also 11-for-33 in his last nine games, and has reached base safely all nine games. Vic Black came on for a five out save, stranding the tying run in the eighth inning, then closing out the ninth for the win.

Game Notes: Justin Howard homered for his second game in a row. Prior to this game he had a .333/.433/.457 line in 210 at-bats this year, with five homers. This gave him his sixth of the year, matching his career high set in 2011. Alex Dickerson played in his first game since August 7th, after sitting out a few games with tightness in his back. Gregory Polanco is now 5-for-14 with three doubles and two walks in his last four games, after slumping in the first week of August.

Game Notes: The Marauders had an interesting end to their game. Zack Dodson and Orland Castro combined for eight no-hit innings, and Bradenton carried a 5-0 lead and the no hitter into the ninth. Tyler Waldron lost the no hitter, and gave up three runs by allowing the first five runners to reach base. He was replaced by Robbie Kilcrease, who threw a wild pitch to put the two inherited runners in scoring position, and the tying run on second. Then, the Marauders ended the game with a rare triple play. Willy Garcia made a sliding catch for the out, then quickly threw to double pinch runner Hector Guevara off second base. The Marauders then threw to third, where it was ruled that the runner left without tagging up for the final out of the game.

Game Notes: Danny Collins hit his seventh homer of the year for Jamestown. That’s two more than the season high for the Pirates in the NYPL last year. It’s also the most since Matt Curry hit seven homers in the NYPL in 2010. Michael Fransoso hit his second homer of the year. Jin-De Jhang had his second straight two hit game. Dovydas Neverauskas had a great month of July, giving up seven earned runs in the entire month, plus his first start of August. He gave up six earned runs tonight, having a rare bad outing, and raising his ERA over a run. Shane Carle stepped up for six innings, which is his longest outing of the year, and only the second time he’s gone more than four innings. Carle has a 1.89 ERA in 38 innings over his last ten starts, with a 32:4 K/BB ratio.
