Game Notes: Indianapolis got strong starting pitching from Ethan Hollingsworth, who allowed two runs that were both unearned. The offense was able to score just one run, an RBI double from Andrew Lambo in the first inning. Andy Oliver relieved Hollingsworth and had control issues in his 2.1 innings, which led to three runs allowed. Since moving to relief, he has walked six batters in 4.1 innings and now leads the International League with 97 walks in 104.1 innings. Lambo now has 54 extra base hits this season(21 doubles, five triples and 28 homers). He also has 88 RBI’s, 42 have come since he joined Indianapolis.

Game Notes: Altoona had a big seventh inning, scoring four runs, but Luis Sanz couldn’t hold a one run lead and the Curve dropped their Saturday night contest by a 6-5 score to Akron. Both Oscar Tejeda and Alex Dickerson hit seventh inning homers, the latter coming with a runner on base. That gave Nate Baker a lead in his second start of the season. He was able to go 6.1 innings, using just 83 pitches to get through his outing. In his first outing, Baker allowed one run over five innings. Dickerson now has 62 RBI’s, the most on the team. Justin Howard had two hits, giving him a .335 average. He has an .886 OPS in 191 AB’s.

A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER

Game Notes: Luis Heredia had control issues today, walking five batters in his five innings. Despite that, he was able to pick up his third win of the season, limiting Lakewood to one run, which came on a solo home run. Heredia has allowed three runs over his three starts against Lakewood. The Power hitters combined for 16 hits, with everyone except Dilson Herrera picking up at least one hit. Seven players had multi-hit games. Josh Bell continued an impressive streak of hitting doubles. He had two today, giving him 35 on the season and it was his fifth straight game with a double. Bell also drove in his 63rd run of the season. He ranks eighth in the SAL in RBI’s and he is first in doubles.

 

A-: JAMESTOWN JAMMERS

Game Notes: Jamestown starter Jackson Lodge has been getting by this season despite a low strikeout rate, due to good control and a decent ground ball rate. He got hit hard tonight, picking up his second loss, by allowing four runs over three innings. Lodge has struck out three(once) or less batters in all of his appearances this season. Jared Lakind had a tough inning in relief, though he was able to pick up three strikeouts. He gave up three runs on four hits in the seventh inning. Jamestown scored twice in the eighth, but the offense had just five hits on the day and the Jammers fell to 28-17 on the season. Jamestown is in first place in their division, two games ahead of State College. They have the best record in the entire NYPL.

 

RK: GCL PIRATES

Game Notes: Starter Wei-Chung Wang threw three scoreless innings, his second shutout performance this week. On Monday, he threw four no-hit innings. Wang walked a batter today, just his second walk of the season. The Pirates had a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Yankees2 staged a rally against Christian Santiago, scoring two runs and loading the bases, before he was replaced by Luis Campos. With two outs, the first batter that Campos faced cleared the bases with a walk-off triple. The Pirates are 18-20 on the season, though they are still in second place in their division, just a half game out.
