Minor League Schedule: Top Prospects Set For Sunday

Just four games on the schedule now today as West Virginia had their regularly scheduled game from today and makeup game from yesterday, postponed due to weather.  The GCL Pirates, as well as both Dominican League affiliates, are off today. Jameson Taillon was selected for the Eastern League All-Star game

AAA: Indianapolis (58-33) @ Toledo (37-54) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Stolmy Pimentel (1-1, 2.88)
Yesterday’s Result: Toledo 3, Indianapolis 1

Stolmy Pimentel will make his fifth start for Indianapolis tonight. In his last outing, he went seven innings, giving up one run on two hits and no walks, while picking up two strikeouts. His previous outing was a tough one, giving up six runs on five hits and four walks in five innings. With Altoona, Pimentel was 4-3, 3.61 in 13 starts. On the year, he has thrown a total of 102.1 innings, allowing 90 hits, ten homers and 44 walks. He has 82 strikeouts, a 1.16 GO/AO ratio and a .235 BAA.

AA: Altoona (39-48) vs Erie (44-42) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Jameson Taillon (3-5, 2.97)
Yesterday’s Result: Erie 6, Altoona 0

Jameson Taillon will make his 16th start of the season. He also pitched once in relief, his last outing, which was the completion of a suspended game. In that game, he threw 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.Taillon hasn’t had a decision in his last six appearances. On the year, he has thrown 88 innings, giving up 85 hits, six homers and 33 walks. He has 85 strikeouts, a 1.27 GO/AO ratio and a .248 BAA. Taillon had a 1.96 ERA in four June starts.

High-A: Bradenton (32-51 overall, 6-9 2nd half) vs Charlotte (38-45) 5:00pm
Probable starter: Emmanuel De Leon (2-0, 3.82)
Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 5, Charlotte 4

Emmanuel De Leon will make his first start of the season tonight. He has pitched 16 times in relief this year, throwing a total of 30.2 innings. He has allowed 31 hits, three homers and seven walks. De Leon has 26 strikeouts, a 1.77 GO/AO ratio and a .270 BAA. He has been in the Pirates system since 2008, but has made just 16 starts, none since the 2010 season. His longest outing this season has been four innings, which he has done twice, both times he threw two-hit, shutout ball.

Low-A: West Virginia (45-41 overall, 8-8 2nd half) vs Lexington (44-40) 2:05pm POSTPONED
Probable starter: Tyler Glasnow (4-2, 2.69)
Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia was suspended in the 5th inning

Tyler Glasnow will make his 17th start of the season today. He has pitched a total of 70.1 innings, allowing 37 hits, seven homers and 42 walks. Glasnow has 103 strikeouts, an 0.94 GO/AO ratio and .153 BAA. In his last start, he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks, picking up just his second loss of the season. At home this season, he is 2-1, 2.23 in eight starts. Glasnow is second in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts and he ranks first overall in the Pirates minor league system.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (12-6) @ Auburn (6-12) 4:05pm
Probable Starter: Isaac Sanchez (1-0, 2.70)
Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown 15, Auburn 5 (game one) Jamestown 14, Auburn 1 (game two)

Isaac Sanchez will make his fourth start of the season. He has pitched a total of ten innings, allowing ten hits, one homer and five walks. Sanchez has 11 strikeouts and a 3.25 GO/AO ratio. In his last start, he lasted just two innings, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out five batters. Last year, he had a 3.00 ERA in 24 innings in the GCL. He also pitched three times for State College, giving up six runs on eight hits in four innings.

Probable Starter:  Cesilio Pimentel (0-0, 1.35)
Yesterday’s Result: Pirates 4, Braves 3

The GCL Pirates are off today. They resume play on Monday morning, beginning a two game series against the Yankees1. Cesilio Pimentel will make his third start of the season.
