TOP OF THE SYSTEM
A look at how the current top 20 prospects did today. Note that this list doesn’t include players currently in the majors. If a player is in the majors, he will be removed, everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. Rankings are from the mid-season rankings, and links on each name go to their Pirates Prospects player page.

Game Notes: Stolmy Pimentel gave up two earned runs in 13 innings over his first two starts in Triple-A. In his last outing he gave up six earned runs in five innings, but bounced back this time with another strong outing. He didn’t get a lot of strikeouts, but he had a 10:5 GO/AO ratio, and only needed 81 pitches to get through seven innings, with 53 strikes. Vic Black has been slowly making his way back after missing a month with an injury. He went three days between his first two outings, then two days until his next one. He had two days off before this outing. The Pirates don’t need him any time soon in the bullpen, but he probably wouldn’t be ready until he could pitch on back to back nights. Alex Presley has six multi-hit games in his last ten games.

He threw 91 pitches and 52 strikes in his 4.1 innings tonight. One thing he did have going for him was a high ground ball rate, with a 7:1 GO/AO ratio.
