Game Notes: Starter Dan Urbina picked up his third win in four starts by allowing two runs(one earned) over five innings. The Rangers came into this game with a 14-2 record. Jherson Esqueda pitched a scoreless sixth innings and Gerardo Navarro threw three no-hit innings to pick up his first career save. Yunelky Adames hit his fifth homer of the season, tied for the highest total in the DSL. He also scored three runs and stole his sixth base of the year. Sandy Santos and Luis Benitez each drove in two runs. Yomifer Polanco had two hits for the second day in a row. He had just three hits in his first seven games of the year.

Game Notes: Starter Dario Agrazal Jr threw five shutout innings, lowering his ERA to 0.95 after four professional starts. He has thrown shutout ball in three of those games. Agrazal has given up just one walk in 19 innings. He was followed by Alexander Gutierrez and Christopher De Leon, who each threw two scoreless innings. Top prospect Michael de la Cruz had a single on Thursday and now has reached base in 14 of the 15 games he has played, collecting 16 hits and 13 walks. Carlos Munoz had two hits, including his sixth double of the year. He has 22 hits and a .431 average, which ranks second in the DSL. Jhoan Herrera has gone 10-for-22 in his last six games.
Player Of The Day
Switching it up a little for today’s Player of the Day and going with Player(s), as in players that are no longer with the organization from last year’s clubs. I got word today of four players who are no longer with the team, as well as another player who is on loan to another team this season and may not be back. The surprising name is Adrian de Aza, a potential five tool player, with a big signing bonus, that never showed any promise after he signed. The 20-year-old lefty/lefty outfielder was signed out of the Dominican Prospect League in July of 2010 for a $150,000 bonus. In two seasons, he hit .231, with a .644 OPS. He hit just one homer, was 4-for-11 in stolen base attempts and had more errors than assists, showing none of those five tools he was supposed to possess.
Also gone are:
Angelo del Castillo, a 21-year-old outfielder, who hit .266/.331/.367 over 47 games in his only season last year.
Anthony Claudio, a 20-year-old outfielder, who hit .223 last year in 37 games and .164 in 24 games in 2011 with the Venezuelan Summer League team.
Jordan Galvez, a 21-year-old infielder that batted .308 and .309 in two seasons in the VSL, before hitting just .202 in the DSL last year.
Julio Perez, a 21-year-old first baseman is playing for Leones de Yucatan in the Mexican League, after spending 2012 with the Pirates in the DSL. He played for Yucatan in 2011, prior to being signed by Pittsburgh.
Finally, a not so recent release that was never announced. Pitcher Jose Marrujo is no longer with the team. He pitched three years in the system, but made just six appearances last year and got hit pretty hard. He pitched great out of the bullpen in 2011 while in the VSL, but the success didn’t carry over the the DSL.
