TOP OF THE SYSTEM
A look at how the current top 20 prospects did today. Note that this list doesn’t include players currently in the majors. If a player is in the majors, he will be removed, everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. Rankings are from the mid-season rankings, and links on each name go to their Pirates Prospects player page.

DAILY SUMMARY
Top Hitter: Eric Wood, 3B (.258) – 1-for-3, HR, 2 BB, 4 RBI
Home Runs: Andrew Lambo (2), Eric Wood (6)
AAA: INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS
Result: Durham 5, Indianapolis 2
Starting Pitcher: James McDonald, RHP (1-2, 6.75) – 5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 HR
Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo, LF (.200) – 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI
Other Notable Performers:
Josh Harrison, SS (.302) – 2-for-4, 3B
Game Notes: James McDonald made a rehab start, throwing 93 pitches and 52 strikes. McDonald was scheduled to throw 100 pitches, so it’s possible that he could have finished his outing in the bullpen. At this point he could still have time for one more rehab start before joining the Pirates. Andrew Lambo hit his second homer since being promoted to Indianapolis, and his 16th overall between Double-A and Triple-A. Josh Harrison is 13-for-39 (.333) in his last ten games, with five doubles, a triple, and a homer.
AA: ALTOONA CURVE
Result: Altoona 2, Trenton 1
Starting Pitcher: Jameson Taillon, RHP (2.89) – 5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0 HR
Top Hitter: Adalberto Santos, 3B (.256) – 2-for-3, BB, SB
Other Notable Performers:
Gregory Polanco, CF (.417) – 2-for-4
Jarek Cunningham, 2B (.234) – 1-for-4, 2B
Game Notes: Jameson Taillon made his first start since June 4th. He was scratched from his last start with a stiff neck. Taillon was removed tonight after 72 pitches, but it was only because he was on a 75 pitch limit due to the long layoff. Taillon now has a 2.89 ERA in 71.2 innings, with a 77:27 K/BB ratio. Gregory Polanco has gotten off to a hot start with Altoona, going 5-for-12 in his first three games. Adalberto Santos is 11-for-33 (.333) with four doubles, seven walks and four stolen bases in his last ten games. He stole his tenth base today.
A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS
Bradenton was off for the FSL All-Star break. The second half of the season starts tomorrow.
A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER
Result: Greensboro 7, West Virginia 5
Starting Pitcher: Joely Rodriguez, LHP (5-5, 2.72) – 4.2 IP, 11 H, 7 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR
Top Hitter: Eric Wood, 3B (.258) – 1-for-3, HR, 2 BB, 4 RBI
Other Notable Performers:
Barrett Barnes, CF (.222) – 2-for-4, BB
Game Notes: Josh Bell and Stetson Allie were both out of the lineup for the second game in a row. Bell left Friday’s game late after suffering a knee injury. I don’t know if that’s why he missed the games, or if it was because of the SAL All-Star break. Dilson Herrera and Walker Gourley were both out of the game today, and both are also on the All-Star roster. Stetson Allie is scheduled to be in the Home Run Derby tomorrow. Joely Rodriguez had a rough start, although he didn’t get much help from his defense. He gave up seven runs, with five unearned. Eric Wood hit his sixth homer of the year, which was a grand slam in the third inning.
