Game Notes: Brandon Cumpton threw six solid innings, allowing just one unearned run. He has given up just six earned runs over his last five starts. Mike Zagurski picked up the win with 1.1 scoreless innings and Vic Black notched his 11th save. Although it doesn’t sound like much, Jerry Sands is hitting .250 with five walks in his last nine games, a strong improvement over his very slow month long start to the season. Tony Sanchez hit his 11th double of the season, seventh in his last ten games. He is hitting .394 in May, with an 1.156 OPS.

Game Notes: Casey Sadler continued his efficient pitching this season, going at least seven innings for the sixth time in his last seven starts. The impressive part about tonight’s game is that this is the third time he has faced Richmond already and in his last game against them, he allowed five runs. Sadler threw 91 pitches, 52 for strikes. He got eight outs on groundballs and now has a 2.15 GO/AO ratio on the year. Jhonathan Ramos and Jason Townsend finished out the game with an inning apiece. Townsend picked up the save, though he did allow the only run. Altoona had five hits on the night, with Cunningham’s homer being the only extra base hit.

Game Notes: Bradenton took an early 3-0 lead behind the pitching of Zack Dodson, but they needed an eighth inning game tying homer from Willy Garcia and then a walk-off bases loaded single in the ninth by Garcia to win it. Chase d’Arnaud played his second rehab game for Bradenton. After going hitless last night, he reached base three times tonight, scoring two runs. Gregory Polanco had a four hit night to break a recent 2-for-19 slump. He now has 15 stolen bases on the season. There was ugly fielding in the game from both sides accounting for a total of seven errors. Dan Gamache committed his tenth error, while Alen Hanson made his 14th of the year after replacing d’Arnaud late in the game.

Game Notes: Clay Holmes made his return from a minor ankle injury, which pushed his start back four days, and he ended up pitching one-hit ball through five innings. Holmes still had some control issues, but it didn’t hurt him like it has in his previous starts. He struck out five batters, one more than he was able to strike out in his last three starts combined. Bryton Trepagnier and Ryan Hafner finished off the game with two shutout innings apiece. Lexington had just two hits total in the game. Everyone in the West Virginia lineup reached base at least once. Dilson Herrera has at least two hits in five straight games, 13 total hits over that span. He also has a seven game hitting streak.
