Joe Martinez Traded to Indians

Martinez has been traded to the Indians for a player to be named later.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded Joe Martinez to the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations, according to Jennifer Langosch.  Jordan Bastian adds that the Pirates will receive either cash considerations or a player to be named later.  Martinez was designated for assignment on December 22nd to make room for Kevin Correia.  He was originally acquired by the Pirates from the San Francisco Giants on July 31st, 2010, along with John Bowker, in exchange for left handed reliever Javier Lopez.

Martinez made five appearances with the Pirates after the trade, putting up a 3.12 ERA in 8.2 innings.  In his major league career he has a 6.16 ERA in 49.2 innings.
