Game Notes: After his worst start of the season the last time out, Andy Oliver had a nice bounce back start tonight. Not only did he allow just one run and strike out seven in six innings, but he also only walked two. Duke Welker has now thrown 13 shutout innings with Indianapolis this year. He also has a 17:5 K/BB ratio on the season. Vic Black has given up five earned runs this year. Four of them have come in his second inning of work in a multi-inning outing. Tonight he pitched a scoreless eighth, then gave up a run in the ninth.

Game Notes: Stolmy Pimentel now has a 0.30 ERA in 30.1 innings this year, with a 28:14 K/BB ratio and 19 hits allowed. He threw 94 pitches on the night, and 59 strikes. Most importantly he only allowed one walk tonight, after walking 13 in 23.1 innings in his first few starts. Alex Dickerson put the Curve up 2-0 in the 7th inning with his second homer of the year. Jeff Inman now has given up two earned runs in 12 innings, with an 11:3 K/BB ratio this year. Andy Vasquez has an eight game hitting streak.

Game Notes: Matt Benedict had a strong start in his last outing, but was hit around a lot tonight. He gave up four runs in the third inning, in large part to two gap shots. He later allowed a solo homer in the fifth inning. All of the big hits were a result of leaving the sinker up in the zone. Benedict said after the game that the sinker didn’t have as much sink, and had more fade tonight.

Game Notes: Stetson Allie hit two home runs tonight, giving him his seventh and eighth of the season. He struck out in his other three at-bats. Allie now has a homer every 12.13 at-bats, which is a pace for 45 homers in a 550 at-bat season. Unfortunately his strikeout problems have returned lately, with 18 strikeouts in 38 at-bats over his last ten games. Josh Bell had two doubles on the night. Bell and Allie combined to knock in eight of the ten runs on the night. Tyler Glasnow had his best start since his first outing of the year. This was the second time in five starts that he went five innings.
