TOP OF THE SYSTEM
A look at how the current top 20 prospects did today. Note that this list doesn’t include players currently in the majors. If a player is in the majors, he will be removed, everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. Rankings are from the pre-season rankings, and links to each prospect writeup can be found by clicking the player names below. Players who weren’t in the original top 20 are linked to their player page on the site.

Top Hitter: Brandon Inge, 2B (.182) – 2-for-3, HR, BB

Ryan Reid, RHP (0.00) – 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 HR
Vic Black, RHP (8.10) – 2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR
Game Notes: Kris Johnson had a great winter in the Dominican Winter League. The Pirates opted to stretch him out as a starter this year with Indianapolis. He’ll be a guy to watch to see if he can carry the DWL success over to the season. He doesn’t look like a starting option in Pittsburgh, but could be a lefty relief option. Brandon Inge continued his rehab, and hit his first home run of the season.
AA: ALTOONA CURVE
Result: Erie 5, Altoona 2
Starting Pitcher: Stolmy Pimentel, RHP (0.00) – 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 0 HR
Top Hitter: Alex Dickerson, RF (.313) – 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI
Other Notable Performers
Adalberto Santos, 3B (.429) – 1-for-3, 2B
Game Notes: Stolmy Pimentel had a strong debut for the Curve. He threw 76 pitches, with 49 strikes. I wrote at the start of the season about how Pimentel looked great in Spring Training. He needs that to carry over to the start of the season with more starts like tonight. Pimentel has one option remaining, and will need to move to Indianapolis by mid-season at the latest. Alex Dickerson brought in the only two runs with an inside the park home run.
