About a week and a half ago I posted a few job openings on the site in preparation for next season. I’ve received a large amount of responses so far, and I’ve gotten back to some of you. With the holidays and the Joel Hanrahan trade I haven’t had a chance to get back to everyone yet. I’m hoping to do that this week.
As I mentioned in the original posting, I’m not going to be making a decision until late-January at the earliest. In the next week I’ll be contacting everyone with the next steps in the process.
You can still apply by clicking the link above and following the instructions. The biggest response has gone to the Major League coverage position(s). That coverage is important, but the coverage in Jamestown, Altoona, and West Virginia is equally important.
I also mentioned the possibility of multiple positions covering the major league team. That’s all dependent on the applicants. If I add a beat writer, which is a paid position, I probably won’t add a second person for analysis. After scanning through the submissions that’s probably the direction I’ll go. If you don’t live in Pittsburgh and you’re still interested in doing some analysis on the major league team you can still submit a resume. That position would rely heavily on statistical analysis and the understanding of advanced metrics.
