Pirates Outright Ali Solis to Indianapolis; Morton Activated From DL

Published:

According to the MLB.com transactions page, the Pittsburgh Pirates have outrighted catcher Ali Solis to Triple-A. Solis was claimed off of waivers last week from the Padres, apparently for the sole purpose of the Pirates trying to put him through waivers and send him to Indianapolis.

He didn’t look like much more than catching depth when he was claimed, and this move isn’t much of a surprise since it was expected when he was claimed. It does open another spot on the 40-man roster.

Also, per the transactions page, Charlie Morton was activated from the 60-day disabled list on October 29th.

The Future Payroll Page and the 2013 40-man payroll page are both updated. The Pirates now have six open spots on the 40-man roster.
