The Bradenton Marauders lost game two of their best of three game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Bradenton sent Brian Leach to the mound, with Leach allowing five runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Leach was looking good through three innings, with just one walk allowed. In the fourth he allowed a two out, RBI single to make the score 2-1 Bradenton, after the Marauders scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Leach fell apart in the fifth, allowing two doubles and a triple, and getting tagged for four runs in the inning, with one of those runs coming in off a single given up by Phillip Irwin.
Irwin pitched a perfect sixth inning, but ran in to trouble himself, allowing three runs on two doubles. Gabriel Alvarado came on in relief, but allowed two runs of his own before getting out of the inning.
The only runs for Bradenton came in the fourth inning. Singles by Eric Fryer, Calvin Anderson, and Adam Davis loaded the bases with no outs. Jordan Newton grounded in to a force out to third, with Fryer being caught at home. Calvin Anderson scored when Greg Picart reached on a fielder’s choice to third. Robbie Grossman walked with two outs to bring in another run, but Bradenton couldn’t capitalize any further.
The Marauders play game three, the deciding game, of their first round series with Charlotte tomorrow at 7:05. Nathan Adcock will take the mound for Bradenton, looking to send them to the finals with a win.
