The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted right handed pitcher Phillip Irwin from West Virginia to Bradenton.  Irwin has spent the entire season in the West Virginia rotation, with a 3.35 ERA in 113 innings, along with an 8.8 K/9, and a 1.6 BB/9 ratio.

Irwin was drafted in the 21st round of the 2009 draft out of Mississippi.  He was in the same Ole Miss rotation as 2009 5th round pick Nathan Baker, who started the season in West Virginia, before being moved up to Bradenton.  Irwin will join Bradenton for their playoff run, after the Marauders clinched the playoffs last night.

Justin Ennis was promoted from State College to West Virginia to take Irwin’s spot.
