Law’s Second Mock Draft Says Giolito is a Possibility

Published:

Keith Law released his second mock draft today for ESPN Insiders. With the eighth pick, he once again had Deven Marrero going to the Pirates. However, he noted that he thinks they’re still exploring other options, despite the industry consensus that Marrero will be the guy.

Law once again mentions Chris Stratton, but this time adds that he’d imagine they would be open to any top guy who fell out of the top seven, using Albert Almora as his example. He concluded by saying that Lucas Giolito could be a possibility there.

Law’s first seven were Mark Appel, Byron Buxton, Mike Zunino, Carlos Correa, Kevin Gausman, Max Fried, and Kyle Zimmer. He had Almora going ninth.

As for Giolito, Law mentioned that teams will be reviewing medical reports with their doctors in the upcoming days, at which point we should get a clearer picture on who is interested in the right handed prep pitcher.
