Nick Kingham was originally scheduled to start game two of yesterday’s doubleheader but his start has been pushed back to today. Michael Jefferson started in his place. Rudy Owens will be making his fifth start of the season tonight. In each of his last two starts, he has pitched seven scoreless innings. Owens has walked just one batter all season in 26 innings while recording 19 strikeouts. Five of the six runs Rudy has allowed this season have come via solo home runs. Right-handed batters are hitting just .185 against him. He allowed a season low two hits on 4/22 and he struck out a season high six batters in his last start.

Kris Johnson will be making his third start of the season today. He started for Altoona on 4/29, going three innings, allowing two hits, three walks and one unearned run. His previous start was while playing for Indianapolis on 4/25 when he threw 42 pitches over two innings of work. He has allowed just one earned run this season in a total of 13.1 innings. Johnson spent six years in the Red Sox organization, topping out at AAA before signing with the Pirates this past off-season.

Colton Cain will get his sixth start of the season tonight. In his last outing, he went four innings, allowing a season high seven runs and seven hits. Cain was coming off of his second outing of the year in which he pitched five innings and allowed just two hits. In 21.2 innings this season he has given up 21 hits, ten walks and struck out 15 batters.

Nick Kingham will get his sixth start of the season tonight. His last start on 4/27 was his longest outing of the season, five innings against Savannah, with three runs allowed. Nick has pitched a total of 14.2 innings this year, giving up 22 hits, eight walks, a .361 BAA and he has struck out 11 batters. In three of his starts he was unable to make it through three innings of work before being pulled mid-inning.
