Game Notes: Daniel Cabrera made the start tonight for Bradenton, his first start of the year. The right hander was signed over the off-season to a minor league deal, and is recovering from Tommy John surgery, which caused him to miss the entire 2011 season. Porfirio Lopez followed Cabrera with two strong innings. The left-hander now has 12.1 shutout innings in Bradenton this year, allowing ten hits, four walks, and striking out eight. The Marauders’ offense was shut out for the second night in a row. Carlos Paulino had two of the three hits.

Game Notes: Zack Dodson had a bit of a rough outing, giving up two solo homers. He’s now allowed four homers in 20 innings on the season. His other secondary numbers look good, with an 18:8 K/BB ratio, but the homers have led to a 4.50 ERA on the season. The West Virginia offense broke out for an eight run inning in the second. During the inning, Alen Hanson extended his hitting streak to 16 games. Every member of the West Virginia offense recorded at least one hit. Willy Garcia hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot in the fifth inning. Gregory Polanco stole two bases, giving him nine on the year. Hanson stole one, giving him eight.
