Minor League Schedule: 4/21/12

Indianapolis was rained out last night. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the two teams meet again on July 12th. A.J. Burnett was scheduled to make his fourth rehab start tonight in Altoona but instead the Pirates have recalled him to start in Pittsburgh. A full recap of yesterday’s games can be found here.

Triple-A: Indianapolis (6-8) @ Louisville (5-11) 2:05pm
Probable starter: Jo-Jo Reyes (1-0 6.00)

Yesterday’s Result: Indianapolis was rained out

Jo-Jo Reyes will be making his second start of the season tonight. His first start came on Sunday against Toledo, when he went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, no walks and he recorded five strikeouts. He made his season debut in relief on 4/9, giving up two runs on a hit, walk and he retired one batter. Reyes went 7-11 5.57 in 140.2 innings last year in the majors, splitting the season between the Blue Jays and Orioles.

Double-A: Altoona (6-8) VS Richmond (8-8) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Aaron Poreda (2-0 1.64)

Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 7 Richmond 15

Aaron Poreda has been named the starter for tonight in place of A.J. Burnett, who was recalled to the majors. Aaron has made two starts so far this year, pitching a total of 11 innings with two earned runs allowed. He gave up one unearned run in his first start, which was on 4/10 when he went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He has allowed 14 base runners and struck out eight batters.

High-A: Bradenton (7-7) VS Ft Myers (6-8) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Hunter Strickland (2-0 1.64)

Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 4 Ft Myers 3

Hunter Strickland will be making his third start of the season tonight. In his last start, he went six shutout innings, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out six. In his first start on 4/10, he gave up two runs in five innings, with no walks and two strikeouts. Prior to his first start this year, he had not pitched in a game since June 2010.

Low-A: West Virginia (5-10) @ Charleston (11-3) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Nick Kingham (0-0 12.86)

Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 3 Charleston 4

Nick Kingham will be making his fourth start of the season tonight, the first pitcher in the farm system to reach that mark. He has pitched a total of just seven innings in his first three starts, failing to get out of the second inning twice. He pitched well in his last start on Sunday, going four innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, while striking out three. Left-handed batters are hitting .438 off of him.
