Jeff Locke gets his second start of the season today. He went four innings during his 2012 debut on 4/7 against Toledo, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks. He struck out four batters. Locke pitched at three levels last year, finishing his season in the majors, where he went 0-3 6.48 in four September starts. Between Altoona and Indy last season he combined for a record of 8-10 3.70 in 153.1 innings with 139 strikeouts.

Michael Colla will get his second start of the season tonight. He was scheduled to start last night but bad weather postponed the game and pushed his start back to today. In his first outing on 4/5 against Erie, he went 4 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and he struck out three. He spent all of last season at Altoona where he went 5-11 3.70 in 133.2 innings. Colla made 23 starts last season after pitching only in relief during his first three seasons of pro ball. He struck out 109 batters and held opponents to a .229 average.

Colton Cain will be making his second start of the season tonight. He went 3.2 innings his first start on 4/5 against St Lucie. Cain allowed two runs(one earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out four hitters. Last season for West Virginia, he went 6-8 3.64 in 106.1 innings with 81 strikeouts.

West Virginia has now lost five straight games. Today’s starter, Matt Benedict, went 4.2 innings during his first start of the season on 4/7 against Hagerstown.
