Jack Brannigan homered twice for Greensboro on Tuesday night, extending his season total to 13 homers.
Brannigan hit a solo shot in the first inning with two outs, putting Greensboro on the board in a wild game. After the Grasshoppers allowed five runs in the second, the offense managed a six run bottom half of the inning. That was capped off by a three run homer from Brannigan, giving Greensboro a 7-5 lead. The Grasshoppers ended up losing 11-9.
Brannigan was drafted in the third round in 2022, and is in his second season at the High-A level. He was promoted to Greensboro mid-season last year, and hit .299/.382/.605 with 12 homers in 147 at-bats.
This year, Brannigan’s power has been down, compared to his first run through the level. He’s hitting .216/.339/.432 with 13 homers in 236 at-bats. He’s done well to reduce his strikeout rate from 33.5% last year to 25.1% this year, but that’s also come with a reduction in his average and power totals.
