The 28-year-old Sulser debuted in the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. They then lost him on waivers to the Baltimore Orioles mid-season, but when the Orioles put him on waivers in mid-October, he rejoined the Pirates organization. He was designated for assignment recently and sent outright to Indianapolis after clearing waivers. No announcement was made of his release, but it’s not uncommon for teams to release fringe older players if they have a chance to make a much better salary overseas. According to that report, Sulser received $740,000 to sign, which is above big league minimum.
