The Surprise Saguaros won 7-5 on Wednesday night. They played again on Thursday afternoon, with Henry Davis as the only Pittsburgh Pirates player in the starting lineup. He would be joined by Omar Cruz later in the game. Here’s a quick game recap.
Davis batted fifth and caught. He walked and scored a run in the second inning. He grounded out to shortstop in the third inning. He flew out to left field in the fifth. Davis doubled in the seventh, his fifth double of the fall in eight games. He finished 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
Omar Cruz pitched the sixth inning and had some control issues, but got out of the inning without any runs allowed. He had a strikeout and a fly out to start the frame, then got a ground out after the two walks. It was a long inning, with 26 pitches, 12 going for strikes. Cruz has allowed one run in 8.2 innings this fall, though he has walked eight batters.
Surprise won 7-0 to give them a 10-5 record, which is the best in the league at the halfway point.
Surprise has a 9:35 PM ET game on Friday night with Quinn Priester scheduled to start. You can view the live stream here.
