Indianapolis lost the opener of a doubleheader 5-4. Cody Bolton started and gave up three runs in three innings. He now has a 3.33 ERA in 67.2 innings, with 73 strikeouts. Joe Jacques was strong over three scoreless, allowing just one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts. Travis MacGregor allowed two runs, but they were both unearned. Bligh Madris belted a two-run homer, his seventh for Indianapolis. Mason Martin hit his 16th homer, a solo shot and his first home run since July 26th, a stretch of 129 plate appearances. Jared Oliva had three hits and a run scored.

Indianapolis won game two by a 4-3 score. Noe Toribio started and allowed two runs over five innings on five hits, no walks and three strikeouts. He threw 42 of 55 pitches for strikes. Hunter Stratton gave up one run over the final two innings for the save. Errors scored the first two runs for the Indians, then Mason Martin had a sacrifice fly for the third run. Jared Oliva’s 16th double drove in the final run. Bligh Madris did well in both games, going 3-for-3 with a run in this game. Ji-hwan Bae stole his 24th base.

Altoona won 2-1 in ten innings. Matt Eckelman got the start and pitched likely his best game of the season, tossing four shutout innings. Cameron Junker made his Altoona debut and tossed a scoreless frame. Omar Cruz allowed one run over 2.2 innings. Tahnaj Thomas continued to pitch great since the end of May, throwing 1.1 scoreless. Colin Selby got the save with a scoreless tenth. The Curve scored first on an error after a single by Liover Peguero. They scored in the tenth on a double by Fabricio Macias, his second double of the game. Altoona struck out 17 times in this game, with every starter contributing to the whiff party.

Greensboro went with a bullpen game, led by two scoreless innings from starter Jack Carey. Carlos Campos allowed one run in two innings, then Will Kobos gave up two runs over two innings in his first rehab appearance with Greensboro. Michell Miliano faced the minimum in the 7th/8th innings, striking out three batters. The offense was quiet all game, but they did do something interesting. Abrahan Gutierrez hit his 22nd double. Sammy Siani hit his eighth double. Mike Jarvis hit his third double. Those were all of the hits by Greensboro in the game. The had just one walk. The team went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in the 3-0 loss.

Anthony Solometo had another strong start, leading Bradenton to a 4-0 win in a must win game for their playoff chances. Solometo went five shutout innings on one hit, three walks and five strikeouts. He now has a 2.64 ERA in 47.2 innings, with 51 strikeouts. Drew Irvine struck out five batters in two scoreless. Yunior Thibo followed with four strikeouts in two scoreless. Termarr Johnson hit his first homer, but it was an odd one. He hit a hard grounder between first and second that rolled to the wall. Instead of fielding it, the outfielder threw his hands up indicating the ball was stuck in the wall. Johnson, who was only halfway to second base at the time, just kept running and the umpire ran out and ruled that the ball was still in play. Johnson added a double later in the game. Bradenton had 11 walks and 12 strikeouts in the game, so a lot of the night consisted of the ball not being put in play. Sergio Campana stole his 29th base.
