P2Daily: Minor League Playoff Push Update

Published:

The minor league seasons are winding down, and today we’re taking a look at the Pirates affiliates in the race.

— Indianapolis is the furthest out the playoff picture, currently 11.5 games out the International League West division with 29 games left. They have won seven out of their last 10 games, including a series victory this past week against Rochester.

— Altoona has posted a 26-24 record in the second half of the season. They are 6.5 games back with 18 left. They’ve won six out of their last 10, despite losing their series against Bowie this past week.

— Greensboro has won seven of their last 10 games, but hold a 26-26 record in the second half, while holding a -24 run differential in that span. While getting things going a bit, they do find themselves 5.5 games back with only 12 games left.

— Bradenton is picking the worst time to have a hiccup. They are still 10 games over .500 during the second half, but lost four of the six games against Dunedin this past week. With only 12 games left in the Single-A season, they find themselves just 1.5 games back and have series against Fort Myers and Clearwater, the two worst teams in the division.

Mike Jarvis’ Impressive Day

Mike Jarvis has taken on the organizational role this year for the Pirates, playing in Bradenton, Indianapolis, and Greensboro this season. Starting on Sunday, Jarvis had himself quite the impressive day for the Grasshoppers, not only picking up a home run but also stealing four bases.

Collectively at three levels, Jarvis has hit .209/.281/.356 with 21 stolen bases and eight home run. He’s struck out just 42 times in 306 plate appearances. Over the last four games, he’s picked up five hits and has home runs now in back-to-back games.
