As we get ready for another series of minor league baseball, we take a look back at one of the better pitching performances from the previous week.
After a little bit of an adjustment period at the Triple-A level, Mike Burrows is starting to get the results he was use to back when he was in Altoona. This past week facing the Iowa Cubs, Burrows allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings pitched.

Burrows started the game off with a bang, striking out the lead off hitter in just three pitches. He throws a fastball on both sides of the plate to jump out 0-2 before freezing the hitter on a curveball.
This at-bat he does a good job changing speeds, alternating between his fastball and changeup, getting the hitter way out ahead of the offspeed pitch, fouling it down the line. He finally brings in the curve to finish things, getting the batter to take a very ugly half swing.
This was his sixth and final strikeout of the night, as well as the last batter he faced on the night. He started things off with a changeup for a called strike one, and again mixed speeds throughout the at-bat. While shown previously him finishing the hitter off with a curveball, Burrows followed up a changeup that was barely fouled off with a fastball on the corner at 95 mph for a swing and miss strike three.
Finally, this is a look at Burrows entire start on August 19. In his last two starts, Burrows has 12 strikeouts over 9 1/3 innings while allowing just one run. Collectively he has a 4.31 ERA at Triple-A, striking out 40 batters in 39 2/3 innings.
