Quintana wasn’t able to keep the recent streak of strong starting pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates alive. He was able to complete five innings, but while also giving up six earned runs to the Colorado Rockies.
I wasn’t expecting Cal Mitchell to be Jack Suwinski’s replacement, but early on he dazzled with one of the more majestic diving catches you’ll see.
Marisnick stayed hot, as he now has a hit in all five games since he returned from the IL.
For a moment at the beginning of the week, the Pirates found themselves on a win streak. It looked like they were going to go into break on a high note, but since late game three against the Miami Marlins, the script flipped.
Thankfully we have the draft coming up, but in the meantime, hopefully we’ll get to see Mitch Keller continue on what finally appears to be a breakthrough.
Pirates @ Rockies
Time: 3:10 PM EST
Pirates Starter: Mitch Keller (3-6, 4.88)
Rockies Starter: Jose Urena (0-1, 2.66)
Keller Notes: Keller is coming off one of the strongest performances of his career. Last time out, he managed to pitch seven innings for the first time in his career, while only allowing a single run to the Miami Marlins. This will be Keller’s 16th start of the season.
