According to Jason Mackey, outfielder Travis Swaggerty was a late scratch from the Indianapolis Indians lineup tonight so he could join the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at PNC Park.
Travis Swaggerty, the Pirates’ 2018 first-round pick, was a late scratch from tonight’s game at Class AAA Indianapolis and will be flying to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning for his MLB debut.

Swaggerty got off to a slow start this season, with a very high strikeout rate. He then suffered a concussion, which put him out of action for just over a week. Since he has returned, his bat has been hot. He is hitting .397/.465/.667 in his last 16 games, with nine extra-base hits, eight walks and a much improved strikeout rate (18.3%). He’s got a strong arm, with above average range in center field and he can be a threat on the bases.
