VENEZUELAN LEAGUE
Tigres de Aragua 1, Leones del Caracas 0
In the battle of the big cats, Los Leones were held to just 3 hits, plus one walk, and two double plays eliminated two of those base runners. Pirates’ DH Ramon Cabrera had one of the hits, a single in the 3rd. Los Tigres scored their only run in the bottom of the 3rd. With one out, former Pirate farmhand CF Jorge Cortes doubled down the right field line, then moved on to third base when the right fielder made a poor throw. Cortes scored on an RBI single. 1B Hector Gimenez singled twice in the game. LF Lastings Milledge and C Raul Chavez both doubled.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE
Canberra Cavalry 6, Brisbane Bandits 0
The Bandits were also held to just 3 hits, though two of those were doubles. The Brisbane starting pitcher walked four batters in the bottom of the 1st (erased one of them with a double play), then Altoona’s C Travis Scott cleared the bases with a double lined into right field to give the Cavalry a 3-0 lead. Canberra added 3 runs with a 2-run homer in the 4th, and another solo homer in the 5th.
Perth Heat 6, Adelaide Bite 1
1B Calvin Anderson scored the Bite’s only run when he singled to lead off the top of the 2nd, stole second base, and scored on a single and a throwing error. Perth tied the game in the bottom of the 4th with a hit batter, a ground out to advance the runner, and an RBI single. A double and an RBI single by the Heat broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 7th. The Heat sealed the win with 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th, on a walk, two singles, and a double, plus a fielding error by Anderson. Former Pirate farmhand 1B Aaron Baker struck out 4 times for the Heat.
