Acuna had quite the season in Colombia this winter. He finished third in the league with a .342 average and second with a .463 OBP. He ranked fourth in the league in steals, going a perfect 9-for-9 in attempts. Acuna hit .293/.362/.431 for Bristol this season.
Edgar Barrios went 0-for-4 in his team’s 4-2 win. Luis Escobar is on a playoff roster and still active, but he did not play in the first game.
In the Dominican league playoffs on Saturday, Socrates Brito went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in his team’s 13-3 win. He also picked up a stolen base and an outfield assist.
Richard Rodriguez tossed a scoreless inning, with no hits, one walk and two strikeouts. During the regular season this winter he threw five shutout innings over five appearances.
In Puerto Rico, Chris Sharpe homered and walked, but the game was suspended two outs before it went official. The same two teams play again on the day after Christmas, so they will likely finish the game then. Assuming it goes official, this will be the first home run of the season for Sharpe.
In Mexico, Randy Romero pinch-ran for the DH and picked up his second stole base of the season. He did not bat or play in the field. Romero has a .421 OPS this winter, with 28 at-bats in 28 games.
