Altoona trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, then took a 4-3 lead, only to lose 5-4 to Hartford. Beau Sulser put together a solid start, giving up two runs (one earned) over six innings, with seven hits, no walks and three strikeouts. Nick Mears made his Altoona debut and allowed one run on one hit in his only inning. Angel German threw a scoreless eighth, then Blake Cederlind allowed two runs in the ninth for the loss.
Logan Hill had the big hit for the Curve, belting a two-run homer in the eighth inning that gave Altoona the lead. Jason Delay got the scoring started with a seventh inning sacrifice fly, while the other run scored on a double play grounder in the eighth. Jared Oliva had two hits and a run scored. Adrian Valerio had two hits and a walk.

Bradenton won 5-1 over Palm Beach. Aaron Shortridge got the start and he went six innings, giving up one run on six hits, with one walk and six strikeouts. He now has a 3.10 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in a league leading 130.2 innings. Ike Schlabach followed with two shutout innings, which lowered him to a 2.42 ERA. Braeden Ogle retired the side in order in the ninth.
Daniel Amaral reached base four times in the lead-off spot, collecting his 14th double, two singles and a walk. Travis Swaggerty hit his 19th double, walked and scored a run. Mason Martin picked up his 120th RBI of the season on a double, which was his 64th extra-base hit of the year. Calvin Mitchell and Rodolfo Castro each had two hits. Lucas Tancas came off the bench and went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a walk.

Greensboro lost 6-5 to Delmarva. Noe Toribio started and had a rough first inning, giving up three runs. He stayed in for 4.1 innings total, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks, with seven strikeouts. Cody Smith recorded the final two outs of the fifth. Cam Alldred allowed one run in the sixth, then Cristofer Melendez gave up one run over the final two frames, which picking up four strikeouts.
Fabricio Macias hit his 19th double and his third triple. He drove in two runs and scored once. Ji-Hwan Bae had two hits, a walk and two runs scored. He now has a .309 batting average. Zack Kone had a single, double and an RBI. Kyle Mottice reached base three times on two walks and a hit-by-pitch. The Grasshoppers struck out 16 times in the game, including five times by Jonah Davis.

Morgantown has off for the NYPL All-Star break. They are sending four players to the game, which will take place Wednesday night in Staten Island.

Bristol won 10-0 over Bluefield. Santiago Florez had an outstanding performance, going six shutout innings on four hits, with no walks and seven strikeouts. He needed just 59 pitches to get through his night, with 43 going for strikes. Florez gave up five runs over 4.1 innings to this same Bluefield team last week. Luis Arrieta followed with three shutout innings to close out the game.
Jake Snider had a three-hit night to give him a .328 average. He scored two runs, drove in a pair, and stole his second base. Aaron Shackelford collected his 15th double and his second triple. He drove in two runs and scored once. Josh Bissonette had a single and his 13th double. He scored twice and picked up an RBI. Eli Wilson had a double, walk, RBI and two runs scored.

The GCL Pirates won 10-2 over the Twins. First round pick Quinn Priester made his eighth appearance and went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, a walk and three strikeouts. He has now thrown 32.2 innings, with a 3.03 ERA and a 37:10 SO/BB ratio. Willy Basil recorded the final out of the fifth, then Orsen Josephina tossed two shutout frames on one hit, no walks and four strikeouts. Angel Suero took over in the eighth and threw shutout ball, followed by a scoreless ninth from Starlyn Reynoso.
Dylan Shockley and Carlos Canache each had three hits. Shockley drove in a pair of runs, while Canache scored twice. Norkis Marcos had two hits, two RBIs, a run scored and his 11th stolen base. Jase Bowen had a single, walk and two runs scored. Jasiah Dixon had a single, double, walk and a run scored. He’s hitting .354/.456/.458 in his first 15 games as a pro. Deion Walker drove in two runs without the benefit of a hit.

The DSL Pirates1 won 9-3 over the Red Sox2. Valentin Linarez made his last start count with five shutout innings on two hits, one walk and seven strikeouts. He finished with a 2.28 ERA in 55.1 innings, with 55 strikeouts and a 1.03 WHIP. Jordy Ortega allowed a run in his only inning. Jarlin Yes gave up two runs over the final three innings, though both runs were unearned.
Sergio Campana had a big day, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. He hit his sixth triple and stole two bases to give him 23 steals on the season. Juan Jerez hit his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Fleury Nova had a single, triple, run scored and RBI. Francisco Quintero had two hits and a run scored.
The DSL Pirates2 won 12-3 over Colorado on Tuesday and clinched a first round bye in the playoffs. Randy Romero continued his run at the batting title by going 4-for-6 with his 13th double. His run at a perfect season on the bases ended, leaving him 34-for-35 in steals with four games to go.
Romero is currently trailing the batting leader .400 to .386, but that leader was promoted and won’t have enough plate appearances to qualify for league leaders by the end of the year. The batting title will actually then be decided by adding an 0-for-9 to his total (mathematical purposes only) because he’s nine plate appearances short, assuming none of these final games are canceled. That would leave him at .377 and give Romero the title.
Carlos Arroyo, Juan Mena and Bryan Mateo each had three hits. Mena drove in three runs and scored twice. Arroyo hit his 11th double and Mateo hit his second triple. Alexander Mojica went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.
Sergio Umana made his final regular season start and he gave up two runs over five innings. He finishes with a 2.39 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP in 64 innings, with 59 strikeouts. Johan Montero allowed a run in his two innings and Enmanuel Mejia tossed two scoreless frames with four strikeouts. In 19.2 innings, he has allowed one earned run on six hits, with an .091 BAA, 0.61 WHIP and 35 strikeouts.
