Weekend Road Results: Kingham Touches 95 MPH

Published:

This morning I received some of the results for the road games over the weekend, specifically looking at the starting pitchers.

Hunter Strickland started on Saturday, giving up four runs on six hits in four innings. Strickland struck out three and was throwing 95-96 MPH.

Tim Alderson pitched two innings on the same day, giving up five hits, but no runs. He struck out two and was 90-92 MPH.

Colton Cain pitched on Sunday against Toronto. He went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He struck out three and was 86-90 MPH with his fastball.

The best results came from Nick Kingham, who threw on Sunday against Toronto. Kingham went five innings, allowing a run on three hits, with three strikeouts. His velocity ranged from 88-95 MPH. The 95 MPH is the highest I’ve heard him at. I wasn’t there for the start, but from what I’ve seen of Kingham, the wide range is easily explained. He usually sees a drop in velocity after about three innings. My guess is that he was low-to-mid 90s early, then upper 80s to low 90s in the final innings. That’s been his trend in every start. It isn’t something I’d be concerned about at this point, since he’s so young.
