The Pittsburgh Pirates received some strong pitching performances throughout the minors last week. That landed them three Pitcher of the Week award winners. Alex McRae won the International League award. Cody Bolton won the Florida State League award, and Brad Case won the South Atlantic League award.
McRae is the second Indianapolis winner in a row, following Dario Agrazal, who won last week. McRae pitched 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, with five strikeouts. Agrazal actually had a higher Game Score (79 to 75 for McRae) in his only start last week, giving up one run over eight innings, on three hits and no walks, with seven strikeouts.
Bolton (pictured) pitched seven shutout innings, on three hits, with no walks and seven strikeouts. He leads the FSL in ERA and WHIP (both 0.77) and hasn’t allowed more than one run in any start.
Case had the best game of the week, throwing seven shutout innings on one hit, which was a bloop single on an awkward swing to lead-off the seventh inning. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven batters.
