Bradenton Marauders 4, Jupiter Hammerheads 0

The Marauders scored their runs one at a time, while keeping Jupiter off the scoreboard completely tonight. DH Calvin Anderson lead the way with 3 hits, including a home run. while C Ramon Cabrera, CF Evan Chambers, and SS Kelson Brown all had two hits.
Anderson posted the first hit and the first run of the game, with his solo home run in the 3rd inning. Chambers got the 5th inning started with a double into right field. Anderson’s single moved Chambers to third base, but Chambers was tagged out at the plate on a fielder’s choice on a grounder by SS Benji Gonzalez to first base. RF Robbie Grossman lined a single into left field, to bring in Anderson with the Marauders’ second run.
The Marauders added a run in the 6th, on singles by Cabrera and 3B Elevys Gonzalez. Cabrera was out at third on the throw in from center field, but that allowed Elevys Gonazlez to moved to third base. Chambers singled up the middle, plating Gonzalez with the third run. Three consecutive singles with one out in the top of the 9th (LF David Rubinstein, Anderson, and Brown) loaded the bases with Marauders. Grossman’s sacrifice fly allowed Rubinstein to score the Marauders’ fourth run of the game.
Quinton Miller pitched 7 shutout innings in his start. He scattered 5 hits and 2 walks, and the only time any Jupiter runner got as far as third base was in the 2nd inning, on two walks and a throwing error by 2B Adalberto Santos. Duke Welker took over for Miller for the 8th inning, and he retired the side in order. Ryan Beckman pitched the bottom of the 9th, and he too put Jupiter down in order. Miller earned his 4th win of the season.
West Virginia Power 3, Lakewood BlueClaws 0 (suspended)

The Power and the BlueClaws were in the middle of the 5th inning when rain interrupted their game. The Power put at least one runner on base in each of the first two innings. 2B Andy Vasquez walked and RF Dan Grovatt singled in the top of the 1st, but a double play got the BlueClaws out of the jam. 3B Eric Avila was hit by a pitch in the 2nd inning, and was left on base. C Kawika Emsley-Pai led off the 3rd inning with a walk, then stole second base and advanced to third when the Lakewood pitcher threw the ball away. Emsley-Pai scored on an RBI ground out by SS Drew Maggi. Vasquez followed with a double, and he stole third, but was out at the plate on a fielder’s choice play.
Avila got on base again in the 4th, this time with a walk, and again he was left on base. The Power added 2 more runs in the top of the 5th. Maggi singled, and when the Lakewood pitcher tried to pick him off first, the pitcher’s second throwing error of the game let Maggi reach 3rd base. Maggi scored on Vasquez singled into left field. Vasquez again stole a base (second), and he scored from second base on 1B Justin Howard’s infield single. DH Chase Lyles had just walked when play was halted.
Jameson Taillon pitched 4 shutout innings in his 8th start for the Power. He gave up only one hit, no walks, and struck out 3 batters. He gave up the single and also hit a batter with a pitch in the 2nd inning, but retired the side in order in his other three innings.
The score was 3-0 when play stopped in the 5th inning, with two outs and runners on first and second bases. They will restart at 6:05 pm tomorrow, and then play the regularly scheduled game after the tonight’s game is completed.
