Leones del Caracas 11,� Bravos de Margarita� 2� — Caracas exploded for 9 runs in the 4th inning, when 14 batters came to the plate.� C Carlos Maldonado doubled with the bases loaded in the inning, driving in 3 runs.� He also grounded out to end the inning.� Former Pirate farmhand Ronald Uviedo made the start for Caracas — unusual to see him not pitching in relief.� He threw 5 scoreless innings and held Margarita to just one hit, no walks, while striking out 4 batters.� Los Bravos were held to just 5 hits.� Their only runs came in the 8th inning, when 3B Andy LaRoche led off with a walk, and scored to third base on two wild pitches.� Three singles brought in another run.� LaRoche was hitless in three other trips to the plate.
Tigres de Aragua� 12,� Caribes de Anzoategui� 3� — Lastings Milledge has joined Los Tigres, doing DH duties tonight.� He walked twice in 5 at-bats and scored a run.� C Hector Gimenez singled and homered for Aragua.� Jorge Cortes made a pinch-hit appearance for Aragua, and Adenson Chourio did the same for Los Caribes — and both grounded out in the 9th inning.� Los Caribes scored first with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, taking advantage of wild pitches and a throwing error.� Los Tigres got one of the runs back in the 3rd, on a walk, a hit batter, and a wild pitch.� Gimenez got the 6th inning started with a lead-off homer, and Milledge followed the homer with a walk.� A throwing error on a pick-off attempt put Milledge on third base, and he scored on an RBI single.� A walk and a double brought in the third run of the inning.� Los Caribes scored one more run in the 7th, on two doubles.� Aragua poured it on in the last two innings.� They loaded the bases in the 8th, and brought in 2 runs with an RBI single, 2 on a throwing error, and one more on Gimenez’s sacrifice fly.� A 2-run homer sealed the deal in the 9th inning.� Los Caribes’ Gabriel Alvarado pitched to one batter in the 6th, and gave up a hit, and that runner came around to score.
Navegantes del Magallanes� 12,� Cardinales de Lara� 8 — Each team posted a 6-run inning, but Magallanes added more with 13 hits.� Lara did all their work with just 5 hits, including 3 by DH Luis Antonio Jemenez, who doubled and hit two home runs, for 6 RBI.� DH Mike Ryan and SS Argenis Diaz each had one hit and scored a run for Magallanes.� 1B Mark Trumbo went 3-for-3 with 2 homers and 6 RBI for Los Navegantes.

Yaquis de Obregon� 4,� Venados de Mazatlan� 2 — A 4-run 1st inning was all it took for Obregon.� CF Jeff Salazar led off with a double, and a few more hits accounted for all of Los Yaquis’ runs in the game.� Mazatlan got onto the scoreboard with a solo homer in the 3rd by 3B Heber Gomez, and Gomez also drove in Los Venados’ other run in the 7th.� LF Rogelios Noris singled but did not score.
