Leones del Caracas� 6,� Caribes de Anzoategui� 1� — Former Pirate farmhand Ronald Uviedo earned the win with 4 shutout innings, allowing just one hit, no walks, and 2 strikeouts.� He followed Ben Jukich (Reds), who pitched 4 hitless and scoreless innings in his start, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.� Los Caribes had to wait until the 9th to get their one run on three hits.� Adenson Chourio pinch-ran in the 9th, but was out in the game-ending double play.� Caracas scored one run in each of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings, then capped it off with a 3-run bottom of the 8th.� Another former Pirate, C Carlos Maldonado singled and scored the run in the 2nd inning, and then doubled in the 6th.
Navegantes del Magallanes� 11,� Tigres de Aragua� 2� — Magallanes sailed circles around Aragua, including a 6-run 4th inning.� 1B Hector Gimenez singled and scored Aragua’s first run in the 4th inning, driven in by C Raul Chavez.� Gimenez also had anower single and a walk.� Chavez drove in Aragua’s second run in the 8th inning with a sacrifice fly.� Former Pirate LF Mike Ryan singled and scored in Los Navegantes’ 3-run 3rd inning.� SS Argenis Diaz started the 4th inning rally with a single, then came around to score.� A homer and a triple added to the fun.� Ryan was removed from the game after the 3rd inning, but it’s not clear why — a possible injury?

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE
Mayos de Navojoa� 6,� Venados de Mazatlan� 5 — Mazatlan had the early lead with a run in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings.� Navojoa came back to score 5 runs over the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to take a 5-2 lead.� Los Venados made a valiant effort to come back.� In the bottom of the 8th, RF Rogelios Noris opened the inning by reaching base on a throwing error, then scored from first on SS Elliot Johnson’s (Rays) double.� Johnson scored on a sacrifice fly, to bring Mazatlan a little closer, 6-4.� In the bottom of the 9th, after a double play erased a lead-off single, Noris blasted a solo home run over the left field wall.� Johnson followed with a single, but a strikeout ended the rally and left Los Venados just short.
Yaquis de Obregon� 12,� Caneros de los Mochis� 5 — Obregon had a pair of 2-run innings and a pair of 4-run innings, but scored their 12 runs on only 9 hits.� Hit batters and walks made up the difference.� Mochis posted 11 hits, but scored only 5 runs.� CF Jeff Salazar doubled to lead off the 5th, and scored on 1B Daniel Fornes’ grand slam.� Obregon’s 2B Adan Velazquez hit the team’s second grand slam of the game in the 7th.
