After that first inning, the Indians went down in order for the next three innings. 1B Mitch Jones broke that streak when he led off the 5th with a single up the middle. A wild pitch by Toledo starter LJ Gagnier put Jones on second base, but he was left there when a fly out and a strike out ended the inning. Kevin Melillo had the Indians’ other hit, when he led off the 6th with a line drive into right field for a single. Gagnier picked Melillo off first base, though, and when Alex Presley walked in the same inning, he was left on base. Presley was the last Tribe base runner of the game, as they were retired in order in the last three innings.
The Indians took two out of three games from Toledo in this short series. The Tribe will be returning to Indianapolis on Saturday for a three-game series against the Louisville Bats. A word of caution, though — rain is predicted for Indianapolis for Saturday afternoon and evening.

Indians’ Hitting Gem of the Game: Alex Presley’s single in the top of the 1st, for the only RBI of the game.

Indians’ Defensive Gem of the Game: In the bottom of the 9th, Brandon Moss had been playing on the shallow side in right field. When Ben Guez lifted that fly ball, Moss had to race all the way back to the wall, not sure how much longer the ball was going to carry, or which side of the fence it was going to drop on. He got to the wall in time to stand with his back to it, then made the catch, on the happy side of the wall.

NOTES:
Roster switch: Jonathan Van Every has been placed on the Disabled List, due to pain in his neck and shoulder, retroactive to yesterday. The open roster spot has been filled by Brian Myrow, who has been on the Disabled List for several weeks.
