Charlotte Stone Crabs �2, �Bradenton Marauders �1 (box)
A lot of donuts in Bradenton this evening, as the scoring in this game was also limited to just two innings. �Brian Leach worked his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the 2nd inning, after two singles and a walk, to end the inning with a strikeout and a line out. �Double plays erased singles for him in the 3rd and 4th innings, as he kept the Stone Crabs scoreless for 5 innings. �Leach faced the first batter in the top of the 6th and hit him with a pitch, and was immediately removed from the game. �Duke Welker came on in relief, and could not find his control. �He walked three straight batters, forcing in a run (charged to Leach) without recording an out. �Tom Boleska relieved Welker, and the first batter Boleska faced singled, driving in the first batter Welker had faced. �Boleska finished the inning with a strikeout and a double play, not allowing another run to score. �Boleska pitched two more scoreless innings, allowing a total of 3 innings. �Mike Colla pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 9th.
The Marauders posted 6 hits, and only put more than one runner on base in �innings. �In the 3rd, SS Greg Picart reached on an error and 2B Jose De Los Santos singled, but both were left on base. �The Marauders loaded the bases in the 6th on singles by De Los Santos an RF Robbie Grossman plus LF Quincy Latimore being hit by a pitch. �Two strikeouts ended that inning without a run scoring. �The Marauders scored their only run in the bottom of the 9th. �With two outs, 3B Adam Davis and C James Skelton both singled, moving Davis to third base. �A wild pitch allowed Davis to scramble home, but another strikeout ended the inning before the Marauders could do any more.

West Virginia Power �10, �Lexington Legends �9 (box)
A run scored without benefit of a hit gave the Power the win in the bottom of the 10th. �RF David Rubinstein led off the inning by being hit by a pitch. �1B Aaron Baker dropped down a sacrifice bunt, but a throwing error by the pitcher put Baker safe at first, and another throwing error by the Lexington center fielder moved Rubinstein to third and Baker to second. �LF Jose Hernandez was intentionally walked to load the bases, and 3B�Jesus Brito’s sacrifice fly brought in Rubinstein with the winning run.
Ryan Kelly made the start for the Power. �He gave up 8 runs on 7 hits in less than 4 innings. �An error and two doubles gave the Legends 2 runs in the 1st. �A double, a walk, a single, and a 3-run homer made it 6 runs after two innings. �After a quiet 3rd inning, another fielding error, a double, and a single added two more runs in the 4th. �Brandon Holden relieved Kelly and finished the 4th. �Holden went on to pitch 4 more innings, allowing one more run in the 7th on Lexington RF JD Martinez’s second home run of the game. �Brett Lorin gave up a single to Martinez in the 9th, but erased him in a double play, as he kept the Legends scoreless. �Zach Foster also pitched a scoreless 10th inning, allowing two singles.
The Power scored a run on an wild pitch in the 1st inning, after loading the bases on 2B Jarek Cunningham’s single and walks by Rubinstein and Baker. �The Power began their come-back run in the 6th, when they scored 4 runs. �The first 5 batters reached base in that inning: �single by Hernandez, doubles by Brito and C Ramon Cabrera, singles by DH Kyle Morgan and SS Benji Gonzalez. Once the 4 runs were in, three straight strikeouts ended the inning.
Three more runs came in during the 8th inning. �Gonzalez walked, CF Evan Chambers and Rubinstein both singled, then Baker doubled, and the Power had gotten close to the Legends: �9-8. �Back-to-back doubles by Cabrera and Morgan tied the score in the 9th inning and sent the game into extra innings, setting up the Power win.

Brooklyn Cyclones �6, �State College Spikes �2 (box)
Brooklyn scored steadily throughout the game, while the Spikes were held to just 2 runs, despite posting 8 hits in the game. �2B Gift Ngoepe and C Matt Skirving each had 2 hits — all 8 Spikes hits were singles.
Starter Tyler Waldron pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 runs on 10 hits. �The runs came in one or two at a time. �A double and a single and a grounder gave the Cyclones a run in the 1st inning. �A 2-run homer provided 2 more in the 2nd. �Three singles in the 3rd and 2 singles in the 5th also brought in one run each. �A triple and a single gave the Cyclones one more run in the 6th, off reliever Zach Fuesser. �Trent Stevenson pitched the final two innings, allowing a single and two walks in the 7th, and retiring the side in order in the 8th.
The Spikes scattered most of their hits over most of the innings, but pulled together to score 2 runs in the 7th. �DH Chase Lyles led off with a single, but was out at second on a ground out by RF Andy Vasquez. A throwing error put Vasquez on second base, and he scored on Skirving’s single. �Another error let LF Kyle Saukko reach base, and Skirving scored on Ngoepe’s RBI single.

GCL Braves �3, �GCL Pirates �1 � —– Game 1 (box)
The Braves and the Pirates made up for yesterday’s rain out with a double header, and the Braves were the home team in the first game. �The Pirates scored only one run, and that one came unearned, in the 1st inning. �SS Jorge Bishop was hit by a pitch to begin the game, and he advanced on a missed catch error on a pick-off attempt. �RF Junior Sosa’s ground out brought Bishop in with the unearned run. �The Pirates had at least one runner on base in each inning for the rest of the game, but could not take advantage of their 5 more runs, two walks, two hit batters, and two more Braves’ errors.
Pirates’ starter Vincent Payne pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 singles and a walk. �James Archibald gave up a solo home run in the 4th inning, to tie the score. �Yomar Pacheco pitched the bottom of the 6th, and gave up another solo homer, to give the Braves the lead, plus a single, a stolen base, and another single, bringing in an insurance run. �Pacheco suffered the loss, his second of the season.

GCL Pirates �4, �GCL Braves �3 � —— Game 2 (box)
The Pirates were the home team in Game 2, today’s regularly scheduled game. �After starter Bryce Weidman pitched three scoreless innings, the game began to get interesting in the top of the 4th. � Fraylin Campos got two outs, then loaded the bases on a double, a hit batter, and a walk. �He left all three still standing there, though, as a fly out ended the inning.
The Pirates got going in the bottom of the inning, led off by back-to-back singles from SS Kevin Mort and RF Gregory Polanco. Mort went to third on Polanco’s hit, and 3B Eric Avila brought him in with a sacrifice fly. �LF Daan Cornelissen doubled to score Polanco, and C Joey Schoenfeld singled to score Cornelissen, and give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
The Braves tied it up over the next two innings. �Campos gave up a run in the 5th, when he loaded the bases on two walks and a single, then walked the next batter to force in a run. �Barrett Phillips took the mound to finish the 5th for Campos, then he gave up two runs in the 6th. �A single and a double set things up, then after a dropped pop foul error by 1B Chih-Wei Hsu, another double brought in two runs, one ruled unearned.
The Pirates went down in order in the 5th and 6th, but they broke the tie when Cornelissen led off the bottom of the 7th with his second double of the game. �He moved to third on a wild pitch, then scored on a walk-off single by LF Junior Sosa.
