Indianapolis right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker has been placed on the 7-day injured list due to a right forearm strain. To take his place in the rotation, right-handed pitcher Dario Agrazal has been promoted from Altoona.
Brubaker left his start on April 15th early due to tightness in his elbow. He was already at 87 pitches when he left, so his night was coming to a close anyway. He was pushed back four days before his next start and looked fine physically through five innings of work. It’s possible that this is more them being cautious with one of their top minor league starters, but a forearm strain is always something to be concerned about until you hear otherwise.
Agrazal is in his third season with Altoona, though the 24-year-old has only put in 114.2 innings during that time due to three different injuries. His last start was his best in a long time, with seven shutout innings and eight strikeouts. He has not walked a single batter in 25 innings this year.
Agrazal was scheduled to start today, while Brubaker was due to go tomorrow.
