The Surprise Saguaros took on Mesa on Thursday afternoon in game 20 of the 30-game Arizona Fall League season. Both Cole Tucker and Will Craig were in the lineup for the Saguaros (7-12 record), as they tried to snap a three-game losing streak. The did just that, winning 5-4, with Craig picking up the big hit in the game.
Tucker began the game with a ground ball single through the right side. He flew out to right field to end the second inning, then flew out to left field to end the fourth inning. Tucker battled to lead-off the sixth, flying out to left field on the eighth pitch of the at-bat. He flew out to right field in the eighth, leaving him 1-for-5 on the day. He has a .339 average and an .811 OPS this fall.
Craig popped out to third base in his first at-bat. He walked on four pitches in the third inning. He came up with a 2-2 score, two on and two outs in the fifth and connected on a three-run homer, his third home run of the fall. Craig lined out to left field in the seventh, then hit a line drive single in the ninth, leaving him 2-for-4 with a walk. He’s hitting .264 this fall, with an .811 OPS.
Surprise plays Friday afternoon at home against Salt River at 3:35 PM EST. The Fall-Stars game will be played on Saturday night. Both Cole Tucker and Blake Weiman will be in the game, which will be televised on MLB Network.
